Sheila and Sarah Day 17

Sheila Day 17

Sometimes I am totally overwhelmed by the things that I see throughout the day as my eyes are seemingly wide open looking for the next "thing" that could be what I call blog worthy.  I was planning on going one direction with things tonight, but now I have decided to scrap that and share with you what I saw tonight as I sat down to write.

I was sooooooo happy a few days ago and I shared with you that my sister Dawn captured the images for a mom and dad that were welcoming their son into the world.  They ACTUALLY let her witness the birth of their little one which is a testament to her incredible God given gift.  As a photographer Dawn sees the world somewhat differently than the rest of us do.  There are things that she sees through her eyes that I would have never dreamt would be possibilities, and yet, she manages to capture an emotion, not just an image.  I see her images pop up on my Facebook and I always LOVE to look at the person who has been her inspiration for the day.

The inspiration for the blog tonight could have come from so many places as I saw a number of things that I could have written about.  I saw a daughter helping her sick mama by making sure that she had the things that she needed for the day, prepare her some lunch, and just make sure that she knew she was loved.  I witnessed a call to a grandma just to check in and make sure things were all right.  I got to see sisters and brothers supporting one another as one pursued their dreams.  I saw my daughter-in-law getting a gift from her mama-in-law and then I got to be on the receiving end of hugs when I just happened to see my son who loved their surprise too.  I saw them out getting supper with the money that was given just because.  I saw friends and kiddos and family and I saw so much today that I struggled to limit it to just one . . . and then tonight, at the end of my busy day, I saw Jack!

Yesterday my little sister sent me a link to look at something utterly AMAZING that she got to be a part of.  However, I was in Fargo all day, got home late, and I am soooooo sorry to say, I just forgot about it until tonight that is.  As I sat down to write, I remembered her link, and what I saw left me moved to tears.  So for tonight I am going to keep my blog short and encourage you to go to her link so that you can actually "see what I saw."  Here is the link: http://dawnsphotography.com/blog/?p=1122

Sigh . . .  :)

Sarah Day 17

I've been super exhausted lately . . . I think I'm in desperate need of a TON of sleep. A couple of weeks ago, I finally got over the stomach flu, a cold, and a sinus infection. I had all three over the course of two weeks. My immune system is pretty terrible, so I need to make sure I'm taking care of myself or I'll keep getting sick. Working two jobs doesn't make that a real easy task.

I wasn't thrilled that I had to wake up at 8:00 this morning for a two hour work meeting. I was so tired that I didn't know if my eyes were even going to stay open through the whole meeting. Luckily, we are adding some new items to our menu, so our cooks had a chance to make all of the new foods, and all of the servers had to test it all. Nothing like a bowl of mussels to wake you up in the morning!

After the meeting, one of my best friends and I decided to go to the mall to do a little Christmas shopping. Taylor and I don't get to spend much time together outside of work, so it was a fun couple of hours. By noon, I decided to get home so I could "clean" the house a bit, and then take a nap before my shift at Longhorn. I tried to clean for about 20 minutes, and then decided that it wasn't going to happen. I was far too tired. Jesse told me not to worry about cleaning . . . he said that he didn't have anything going on today and he could clean the house/

After a two hour nap, I felt quite a bit better, but I was a little grumpy. I wasn't thrilled that I had to go into work when all I wanted to do was lay around. I would've liked to see the inside of my eyelids for several more hours. But, my grumpyness went away fairly quickly, so it wasn't long before I was off to work.

I was done with work a little earlier than usual tonight, so that was a good feeling. I really enjoy working at LoHo for the most part. We're lucky that we have an awesome group of people to work with. It's usually a pretty good time. Towards the end of the night, one of our servers said "you know, we have a really good looking group!" It was pretty random, but super funny and had all of us laughing. He proceeded to go on explaining why our team is so good looking and it didn't take much time before all of us were chiming in. Those are the moments that make me excited to go to work. Regardless of all the funny moments tonight, I couldn't wait to get home.

I could hardly believe my eyes when I walked through the front door and saw Jesse vacuuming. The whole entire downstairs was spotless . . . the house even smelled clean! He did the dishes, cleaned the cat litter boxes, swept the floors, vacuumed the carpet, and picked up some snacks so we can watch movies tomorrow. Jesse is usually pretty helpful around the house. He's always willing to clean . . . but today was a different level of clean. It's so clean that I know when we watch movies tomorrow, I won't have any anxiety about unorganized clutter. I'm one of those people who can't relax very well when the house is a mess, and Jesse definitely knows that. He knows that I've been overly stressed and busy lately, so tonight was a wonderful surprise.

I think Jesse and I are both excited that I have a full day off tomorrow because that doesn't usually happen. We like to spend Sunday's together. Before I started at LoHo, our typical Sunday meant going to church, eating breakfast at Perkins and then watching football while we take naps. Tomorrow is going to be my first Sunday off in the last couple of months and I'm THRILLED to know that I don't have to clean the house before I can relax. There really isn't much better than coming home to a clean house after a long night. I'm definitely a lucky girl.
